B.S. Architecture and Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Master of Architecture, Columbia University

Xixi Chen (she/they) is an architectural designer, educator, and researcher working between Los Angeles and Syracuse. Born in Shanghai and raised outside of Chicago, her research bridges architecture and contemporary art practices through community ethos to examine diaspora, memory, kinship, and commemoration across global and intimate scales. Her design practice, XXS–Xixi Studio, is engaged in small-scale projects with collaborators worldwide. Xixi has worked with architecture firms in Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam, including Michael Maltzan Architecture and 2x4, and her work has been exhibited at Storefront for Art and Architecture and published in GA Document. She holds an M.Arch from Columbia University and a B.S. in Architecture and Art History (with high honors) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently teaching at Syracuse University, Xixi has previously taught at Columbia University and Barnard College.
